Christian Ecumenical Values

Institutional Ecumenical Christian Values of the
Interamerican University of Puerto Rico

We believe in God as the Supreme
Being God is the Supreme Being who created everything that exists. His power and presence are manifested in the person of His Son Jesus, the Savior, and in the Holy Spirit, who leads the community of faith.

We believe in Jesus
We accept that the apostolic tradition of the Scriptures recognizes and accepts Jesus as decisive, determining, and normative for human relationships with God, neighbors, family, and society. As the Savior and Mediator of Humanity, it is our commitment to continue strengthening the convergence of all Christians
through the one faith around the person of Jesus.

We believe in life
We affirm that life is a gift from God. We encourage every human being to value their life in order to give the best of themselves to their country, family, and society. We promote the preservation of life and foster Christian awareness in education.

We believe in the family
We believe that the family is the essential social nucleus where initial values are formed that shape the individual. We are committed to reinforcing these values from a biblical foundation that helps each human being achieve full life and extends it to their loved ones.

We believe in service
We affirm our ecumenical Christian ideal, dedicating our efforts to renew and affirm service to our homeland, society, family, and neighbors.

We believe in the identity of the Christian community of faith
We affirm that the conviction of being Christians implies knowledge and obedience to the Word of God, as well as identification and commitment to the Church and the particular Christian community of the individual.

We believe in comprehensive education
Our ecumenical Christian position provides openness to society, science, and technology, with a comprehensive mindset, an attitude of respect, and moral conduct consistent with our values.

We promote the comprehensive education of each person for the exercise of their vocation through responsible behavior and productive manifestation in their community.

We are a higher education community in search of truth within a climate of freedom, by fostering mature academic life that guarantees genuine research freedom.

We believe in commitment to our neighbor
We believe that being Christian is to have and demonstrate a commitment to serving others based on love rather than societal domination, promoting friendship, solidarity, tolerance, and understanding beyond any human barrier.

We believe in the study of the Christian religion
We promote the study of the Christian religion as an academic discipline that maintains fruitful dialogue with other academic disciplines.
We will continue to strengthen the development of the religion study program, providing all students with the opportunity to acquire an understanding of the Christian faith and its implications for our culture.
